Reflection for 2nd Grading

The past second grading have been a very great, fun and entertaining period in my ICT class. As well as being a very conducive learning experience, it was also not boring. I enjoyed making the activities and exercise because it taught me how to properly make an HTML web site through the basics such as the hash tags and codes.
Problems are everyday obstacles which we must tackle. But in the second grading period, my only problem with ICT was meeting the deadlines of the activities.
To address this challenge, I urged myself to be more hardworking and focused on what I am doing especially when meeting the deadlines of my projects and assignments.
Moving on, I will strive to be better at my classes and especially ICT. I will try to be better at the things I do, move on from the mistakes I have done, and be reminded always that mistakes happen but we can replace them through enriching and making ourselves better.

Techno-vancement: A new-born age through English Proficiency

Have you ever wondered how our world would be like if there was no common language that all continents and countries could speak? Have you ever tried to imagine a world that cannot understand each other? Yeah, I also though of the same thing.
English. To put it simply, English is like the governing body of the whole language system of our world. From London to Tokyo to New York, you can hear the English language. Through having a common language, we engage in communicating with other races. We engage in learning about each other. Through english proficiency, we learn, we hear, we understand.
How can it affect our digital literacy? Well for one, if you don't know English you cannot operate an electronic device very well. What if the device (ex. cellphone) would show you the message "optimized charging" and you understand it in a way that it is not charging. It becomes very confusing. Even computers use the English language for one simple reason. For the convenience of being understood all around the world.
Through time, we have adapted ourselves to be more social, through the internet, through social networking sites, such sites are Friendster, Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Yahoo, Blogger and many more. In using the internet, we also need to know how to understand English. For most of the time than not, web pages use English as its mode of communication also. It does not use Ilocano, or Pangalatoc, or Bisaya, it uses one language, English, the universal language.
Being English proficient doesn't only affect our way of understanding the English language. But also by communicating to other people. Nowadays, it is a must to be English proficient and digital literate. If you want to apply for an office job, you need to know how to operate a computer and to speak to your clients in English fluently. If you are working for a Call Center, you need to be good at English as well as using technology.
In a way, we can simply say that English proficiency and digital literacy work hand-in-hand in synergy. With combining these two powerful items, we can create something far better than what they can produce separately. They can produce communication through technology. We currently live in a digital world where we depend on these digital objects more so than not.
Through digital literacy, we advance, through English proficiency, we understand, through their synergy, we communicate.

My Teacher, My Hero

Imagine a world full of students without any teacher, a world that would not move forward, a world that has no innovation, a world that's degrading.
Right from our infant years, our teachers have been there abiding by us, teaching us the simplest words such as mama and papa, or the simplest tricks like close-open, or even the simplest songs like ABCD.
When we entered our schooling years, different teachers began teaching us reading, writing, adding, subtracting and coloring. Then they moved on to teaching us Biology, Physics, Biotechnology, Advanced Statistics, Chemistry and Calculus. From the basics to the advanced, our teachers have been there with us every step of the way. Not that I am all grown up, I kind of wonder how our teachers were able to teach very active, inattentive and confusing students to stop, listen and understand. I wonder how they are able to come to school everyday even when they are not required to just to help their students in extracurricular activities. I am amazed on how committed they are to what they are doing, how they can sacrifice their own time to make lesson plans and check their students' papers.
Teachers, the sole reasons to why mere students get educated and become important people in their own communities. The secret to each persons success is their teachers. The ones who did not give up when their students are not studying, are failing and who gave up on their lives and their futures.
I remember how Ma'am Cacal stayed with me in school for 3 vacation days just to give me and administer my periodical tests because I was absent for a regional contest when my classmates had them. She even gave me food to eat out of he own money without expecting something back.
It was then I realized how lucky I am. How i have a workforce of teachers behind me, ready to help and support me in every step I take to reach my goals.
Thank you Teachers, for being there right beside us, your students even when we make you angry, even when we hurt your feelings, even when your salary is insufficient to support yourselves, even when everyone else has given up on us.You help us, you teach us, you mold us to who we want to be. Thank you dear teachers, thank you!

Modern Day Hero

Have you ever wondered how you learned to crawl, or to walk, or to count, or to read? Well, you did not learn those on your own.
Teachers are the sole reason to our education and success. These are the people who bestow upon us, the students, knowledge, knowledge that we can use someday inv our own careers and lives. The whole context of teacher hood is not limited or pertaining only to those who we see teaching inside the classroom, neither is it limited to the ones who give us grades. Teachers in general can be any person in the world that influences us and shares their knowledge to us from their own understanding so that we could also learn new ideas and also analyze the world through our own scope and understanding..
Learning is not only bounder inside the four walls of the classroom by our subjects such as Math, Science and English but continues on outside the classroom like learning how to wash, how to clean, how to be a better person and even how to live.
Teachers are often underestimated because of the profession they take. People tend to underestimate and forget that without teachers, there can never be a bright future. Underpaid and stressed they know and understand what selflessness and sacrifice means. They live their daily lives worrying about their students’ welfare. They sleep late at night reading and checking test papers, projects and assignment of their students and preparing the lesson to be taught the following day. They use teaching materials the they bought out of their own money to make the lesson more enjoyable and understandable for the students. And yet we tend to forget how much we owe our teachers and how much we need to thank them for all the sacrifice they have done for us and for our betterment.
Teachers not only give us knowledge about the subjects they teach, but also knowledge about life. They give to us insight as to how hard life can someday be, how we can manage these hard moments in life and despite how unfair, hard and heart-breaking life can be, there will always be a ray of light that gives us hope and tells us that we can have a new beginning and that we can  make things right.
Just merely thinking if we don’t have teachers with us gives me Goosebumps and chills. Who would be there to guide us? Who would teach us wrong from right? What will become of our tomorrow? Catastrophe will happen.
I am amazed how patient teachers can be and how well they can handle unprepared for events. I am amazed how even though their students are delinquents and black sheeps they still try to understand and teach them.
Let us take a small part of our pride and tell our teachers that we are fortunate and licky that we hace them. Let us take a small part of our voices and tell them, “Thank you dear Teachers!” Les us remember that a big part of our lives and success are because of our teachers. For they have guided us throughout our years in education to the path that we must rightfully take.
Teacher to sum up are a portentous part in the process of molding of our human characteristics and future. They sacrifice for their students and for their betterment so that someday they can be good people of the community. So that someday, they can become successful people that anyone can be proud of. Teachers teach so that they can make their students graduate and so that their hard work and sacrifice won’t be in vain or for nothing. Thank you teachers for everything you have given us! Thank you for giving hope for a better and brighter tomorrow!

Mirror Me: A flashback for 1st Grading Pd. 2011-2011

Ilocos Sur National High School is an educational institution that is populated by more or less 5,000 students embarking on their journeys daily to educational nirvana. I am one of those students. Through learning, we ride on a new bound journey to think, to be educated and to acquire new knowledge  in the different fields of schooling, educational and extra curricular.
Knowledge. The ultimate epitome if a student wants to graduate. What have I acquired over the 3 months I have been as a 4th year student? Well, to simply put it, too much to mention. In the fields of science, mathematics, history, literature, language, and technology I have acquired no less than sufficient knowledge to strengthen my education. But subjects are but parts of the full ISNHS experience package. Just inside the four walls of our IV-Marconi classroom, I have learned new things about my environment, about my classmates, about the different people around me, and about myself. I learned that anger will get you nowhere. I have learned in Chemistry, that life is made up of chemicals and compounds, though chemistry can teach us what we are made up of, it cannot tell us how to live our lives. I have learned in Physics that gravity is -9.8x10 m/s2 and it will always pull you down, but it cannot explain how people have forces of attraction to each other and no matter how down we are we always find in ourselves to stand up and lift! I have learned in English that sentences are made up of words, and words are made up letters, but it does not tell us that simple words can mean a lot. I have learned in History, that heroes risked and gave their lives to save our nations people, but it does not tell us who the modern day heroes are. In school we learn a lot of things inside the classroom, but as soon as you step out of this four-walled home base, you will find myriads of knowledge that are going to be usable in your future life and a utopia of new found freedom to learn the thrill of a true high school experience. In school I have learned that acquired knowledge inside the classroom is no match compared to real life knowledge and wisdom which will help you to achieve your goals.
Problems, challenges, regret. Three of the things that high school students usually encounter. How did I cope up with these problems? Well, I usually don't. But that's the thing, problems, and challenges, and regrets are what friends are made for. They will be there when your happy, they will be there when your down. No matter what happens true friends will always be there. There maybe some misunderstandings, but given some time, all will be fixed.
Anger will only lead you to do things you will sooner or later regret. It will cause you to grow apart from the people around you, friends, family, humans in general, and you will unknowingly do things to them that may hurt them one way or another. So be careful, never let your anger get to you. Count to ten, or whatever you need to do to get that anger diffused. Don't let it control you, let yourself control anger.
Sleep is bad during class hours. :D hahahah. Tried and tested. That is one problem that I cannot change. Sleep. By mearly hearing or reading the word makes me yawn. Oh the good old feeling of comfort when your about to fall asleep. Sleep is good during night, but when you have class, It's a Big No No. I missed out on lessons, I missed out on class, there is so many things that I miss out when I sleep. But I really can't truly change that habit. Whenever yawn drags me to sleep, I can do nothing but follow.
Laziness. The culprit to all high school students misdemeanor in their grades. What do I do before an exam? Watch tv. What do I do when there is projects and assignments? Rush at school at the day of the deadline. What do I do when there are activities or requirements? I procrastinate. Haha. The normal life of a teen aged high school student, filled with, joy, happiness, laziness and procrastination.
I also have that problem of the Whatever Syndrome as I call it. Even if the meanest teacher tells the deadline, I can't help myself but to pass it on a later date. I don't know, it is not an addiction, moreover a habit. A very bad habit.
Moving on, life will never be fair. I learned that faith in God can do wonders, but faith without action will lead you knowwhere. If you put your trust on one thing and not work for it, you will never achieve what you aspire for. I hope that the next grading period, my life as a high school student would become much much better. I missed the good old days when we were the III-Boyle. It is true what they say, third year life will always be the best, the craziest, and the most memorable. Cherished memories will always be with us. Life is such an  unbreakable puzzle, we need to cope with it and continue living. I will do my best to do my best. I cannot make any promises, but I will try to be better at every aspect of my life. I will change.

Breastfeed, the Lifeline of Infants

Health is truly an important factor in the development of a person and his abilities and skills. Through health we understand that we need to nurture and take care of ourselves through methods generally easy to do and maintain.
A child, an infant is a gift from God. Everyone of us goes through the phase of infancy. Each and every person has experienced being an infant, an innocent angel that has been given by our Lord.
Breastfeeding is futile and essential in the development of a child. Breastfeeding is the most effective natural all-in-one supplemental vitamin capsule that contains all the essential life sustenance materials that are vital in the development of an infant into childhood and adolescence.
Compared to commercial milk products, breastfeeding is better in a whole lot of ways. The breast milk is way more nutritious and delicious without the added preservatives, sugars and taste enhancers. In a way breastfeeding is also more accessible because it is always with the mother. While commercial milks need water to be mixed in, breast milk is already in liquid form ready at any given time and moment to be fed to the child, hence better for both mother and child.
I as a child has also been breastfeed. It has contributed a lot to my development into adolescence, mentally, physically, and more. I myself have proven that breastfeeding is the best way to go.
Breastfeeding is the lifeline of all human beings. Life on earth begins with the nourishment of a child through breastfeeding. Nothing else can be the same level or the same caliber as breastfeeding.. For breastfeeding is like an infinite force that needs to be kept going for as long as the human race continues to live on.
Bottom line, breastfeed or breastmilk is one of the best things that happened to humans ever since the world begun. it supplies nutrients, enzymes and antibodies to the feeble growing bodies of infants. Breatsfeeding is natures solution to feeding a child for the first part of its life. Breastfeeding is right, just and exclusive.

SONA: Philippines the PNoy way

Our President, Benigno 'Noynoy' Aquino III gave his speech or State of the Nation Address (SONA) last July 25, 2011 at the Plenary Hall, House of Representatives or more commonly known as Batasang Pambansa, Quezon City. Long before President Aquino began his speech, a lot of Filipinos were already outcrying their urges and feelings about PNoy's first year in service.
The SONA of Pnoy became a National Phenomenon for the short time that it was broadcasted live on national television through the different major television networks such as GMA and ABS-CBN. A lot of people were able to watch PNoy as he gave his SONA. But there are still those who weren't able to watch because of their jobs and students who still have their classes.
For me, the second SONA of PNoy was a hodge-podge of mixed reactions. It is true that PNoy have done a lot for the betterment and rise of our country, the Philippines. But are his efforts enough to feed the poor? Are his projects effective in giving the poverty-stricken Filipinos a chance of a better life? Are what he have done enough? No. Though he has done some, his efforts for his first year in service are in my opinion lacking. Yes he has banned the use of "Wang-wang", yes he has stopped corruption and yes he has helped. But has he kept his promises?
My insight is that the first year of PNoy was a 'rehabilitation' process to rise Philippines from the pits it has fallen into because of the past Administration. Through his SONA, he proclaimed that we now have a stable Stock Exchange averaging 4000 units, we are almost at the investment rate, the number of no-work people lessened. It was also said there that new projects will be made for the betterment of the Filipino race, while those money-draining, corrupt-handled projects will be banned so that the money will be used for more practical purposes such as raising the salary of government employed people, starting housing projects for those who need them, and educational programs for the literacy of all Filipino children.
For me, PNoy tried to persuade us that the past problems are gone, that he has done a lot. But alas, it is an irony. For he has done only a few compared to what he must do. Is PNoy an effective president? Yes. Is he the most effective? Probably not. But we still have to wait, there are still 5 SONAs to go, 5 more years for PNoy to make a difference, 5 more years to help the Filipino race.
